Call me crazy but even looking back at the Sims Summit and all the leaks what if Maxis completely did away with the ability to own houses and instead we simply got houses. Know how ridiculously crazy that is, but look at other life simulation games that were multiplayer such as Identitity. It would make sense for the multiplayer element that everyone was restricted to live in an apartment and when you wanted to visit a friend it would just load up an instance for them. Would it make sense that the ability to build houses would be revoked? No...but looking at the sims 4 launch and now...I would not be surprised if they followed in the same footsteps.
