  1. I was doing some brainstorming about what would be a big step forward for the franchise if they were to actually develop a 5th sims game. I thought I’d post some things here and maybe get some feedback or any other ideas about how the game could be revolutionized like some of the things I thought would be cool would be if for example your kids inherited more than your traits but if they inherited some type of reputation among the sims community. They have long standing memories and more than just +2 sad for 4 hours they have different interactions based on lived experiences (like if a couple divorces they could be afraid of commitments after or be ready to live a more wild life) and if property value were to change based on neighborhoods growing and failing. If things on houses could wear out like the roof, doors and windows breaking and dropping the property value. I’m maintaining my house but the neighbors all look broke I’m gonna move myself to the nice part of town. The computer could have the free will to move also. Also how would you change the economy? I remember making money in sims 2 being a little more of a struggle but that’s the fun of the game working your way out of it but in sims 4 it’s almost too easy. submitted by /u/Mad_modder [link] [comments]View the full article
  2. The Sims 4 started to shake things up a bit when they saw Paralives, Inzoi, and LifeByYou. You could sense that they had finally moved forward and innovated with the "Project Rene". Quickly. With customizations similar to Paralives. In the end, Life by You was canceled, and they realized that Paralives wasn't a threat to them and wasn't very well finished. Inzoi didn't really work and is very average. Why is NO big studio or competent studio making a life simulation game similar to The Sims? Why is no one doing it? Only The Sims has mastered it, they can do crazy things, that's what's frustrating. EA is sabotaging everything. Sorry Maxis... A real competitor would definitely force EA to get its act together with The Sims. Serious competition is always a good thing. submitted by /u/Sylverpepper [link] [comments]View the full article
  3. I've been following along the development of Project Rene because i'm a super Sims nerd. "Project Rene" was first shown off in October 2022 As the next iteration of the Sims, Showing off new customisation tools ( Colour Wheels, Patterns, Details) Being able to play with a friend and the game being able to run on both PC & Phones with crossplay. In June 2023 MAXIS showed Project Rene further along in Development showing highly detailed lighting, an early test showing an open neighborhood simulating over 20 sims going about their day independently. And the first look at what these new Sims would look like going with a very cartoony, expressive style. This looked to be what everyone would want in the next main Sims game. In September 2023 a private playtest was leaked, showing off a very mobile focused version of this new game. And over the 2024 and 2025, Even more playtests were held, each time Project Rene became removed from what was first shown, A Multiplayer space with party games all taking place in an outside paris inspired plaza with 0 life simulation elements. MAXIS has been very quiet about this until now, What was meant to be the next generation of the Sims has now been refocused to be an online mobile party game ( Mobile First without a mention of the original PC crossplay) And now there have been a few leaks and rumours about "Project X" "Project X" will be the new next Evolution of the Sims, A Singleplayer Life Simulator. The only information we have is Speculation and Leaks. It's been said it will take elements of the 12 year old Sims 4 game, and rework them bring them to a more modern engine with better Graphics and an Open Neighborhood without loading screens, More like a Sims 4.5 over a true "Sims 5" My Personal Theory : MAXIS tried to make a Mobile/PC crossplay Multiplayer Life Simulator, but it didn't work out as a more Advanced Sims game wouldn't be able to run on Mobile, And the PC version would have had to be dumbed down and simplified as they were trying to get crossplay to work, In the end no one would be happy. So they have changed plans. "Project Rene" will now be an Multiplayer Mobile Party Game and "Project X" will be a new Mainline Sims Single player Life Simulator game, Bringing things people want that are just not possible with the current Sims 4 engine from 2014. Most of this information has been collected from Rumours and Leaks and the few Official Statements about the game. submitted by /u/Artist6995 [link] [comments]View the full article
  4. So my understanding is that sims 4 is basically done and next year they have something new for us. Rumor is that they’re remastering the game to be open neighborhood. To be clear I think this is a terrible business decision - the sims 5 would make them a ton of money and the title builds hype very easily. But, if they truly remaster sims 4 so that all neighborhoods are open world, I would be satisfied. I’m a sims super fan. I’ve got a ton of packs for all 4 games. An open world remaster of the sims 4 would feel like EA acting in good faith to those of us who have bought a ton of packs. To see Windenburg finally come to life, full of homes and community lots I can easily visit, would be awesome. I’d enjoy having a reason to truly revisit the huge catalog of content. Breaking into homes would actually mean something. Spying on the residents of Strangerville would be more fully possible. Neighborhood stories actually matter when they’re visible families that can be based in your own corner of the world. Granted, they could completely F this up by keeping the old worlds closed and only opening up the new neighborhoods. I pray they don’t, but this is EA we’re talking about. submitted by /u/Lazygrenade_5226 [link] [comments]View the full article

  9. Official Information from EA and Maxis No classic “Sims 5” just yet EA has stated they’re not building a simple “Sims 5” to replace The Sims 4. Instead, the focus is on Project Rene, a new platform designed to coexist with The Sims 4 for several years. Project Rene is a long-term vision It’s meant to be a flexible ecosystem, not a single game release. EA wants to build on the huge DLC library of The Sims 4 without forcing players to restart from zero submitted by /u/Simsarchitecteplans [link] [comments]View the full article
  10. I know EA said it’s not happening but with new owners we could see a new Sims. regardless of what you think of them they will know The Sims is a. if tit and why not capitalise on that. Jarad Kushsner regard of what you think of him he is a business man and business 101 is you don’t get rid of your biggest franchise so the Sims 5 may happen but based on ethics would you buy it. submitted by /u/Doogerie [link] [comments]View the full article

  12. (Originally posted in r/sims4, but it was taken down because I don’t have enough Karma, not really sure what that means) Hi all! Does anyone have any tips on make those recorded episodes/movies for sims? (Like the generation challenges or the ultimate decades challenged) I assume most people use the recording feature on the sims, but does anyone know how to get good angles, get rid of the menu etc etc. Thanks! submitted by /u/Sudden_Machine_3761 [link] [comments]View the full article
  13. don’t want players “starting over” with expansions, gamepacks, and imported households. Fine. But let’s be real—Project Rene isn’t going to be some free toybox with no monetization. It’s going to have expansions, packs, probably even a Sims Store. So their excuse doesn’t really hold up. Reality #1: The Sims 4 is drowning in technical debt. It’s no surprise bugs multiply with every DLC or patch. Sixteen years on the same engine means performance bottlenecks, crashes, and fragile code. It’s already on its last legs, and eventually the system will break. Reality #2: Maxis isn’t off the hook. Yes, EA holds the leash. But Maxis hasn’t been proactive either. They could prioritize fixing bugs, improving core systems, and making the game more fun—but instead the focus has been on small content drops while fundamental issues fester. That’s not just corporate oversight; that’s poor studio leadership too. My bet? EA will trickle out Sims 4 content for the next three years, then launch Rene in 2026. By 2028, Sims 4 will be essentially unplayable, forcing the community into Rene. That “slow bleed” buys Maxis time to lure players over without a revolt—unlike the disastrous Sims 4 launch. It feels premeditated. submitted by /u/justadumboi [link] [comments]View the full article
